OYO “OMBETJA YEHINGA ORGANISATION” (Namibian NGO) Flying high a project in the //Kharas region – encourage learners to finish school
Sun, 30 Aug 2020
OYO is a Namibian Trust aiming at creating social awareness using the Arts. OYO believes that solutions can only be found with young people for young people within a given context. Each project works closely with learners, their schools and, when applicable the surrounding community. It uses non-threatening means of communication, including role-plays, dances, songs, its youth-friendly magazine and create safe spaces. The aim of the project is to address specifically (but not limited to) teenage pregnancy in the //Kharas region with the ultimate view to keep scholars in school. OYO had planned a series of activities to encourage girls who are in schools to remain in school by alleviating some of the stumping blocks they face (teenage pregnancy, peer pressure, lack of self-esteem and motivation, gender-based violence). OYO successfully hosted a girls and boys camp in order to address burning social issues.
